Senior Gala
Preparations for the Jamaican themed Senior Gala consisted of the wonderment of tie dying t-shirts and arts and crafts.  The gala was held in the Rainbow Room at VWC and brought senior residents together from Fletcher Gardens, VWC, Willow Park, and Summersong.  The residents enjoyed Jamaican food from Jamaican Grill in Denver and danced to reggae music provided by DJ Star.  A pie bar and photo booth rounded out the evening’s festivities.  The annual gala was a success thanks to the hard work by AHA staff and the residents.  A special thanks to our friends at Innovage for providing transportation to and from the event.

Gardening at VWC
The residents at VWC are exceptional gardeners as evidenced by the bountiful harvest their hard work produces.  The raised garden beds have proven to provide the seniors with fresh and nutritious produce as well as an opportunity to participate in physical activity.  Gardening is good for the body and soul and has been proven to: increase physical activity, increase fruit and vegetable consumption, reduce stress, and alleviate symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (Garden Organic and Sustain).
